Required Flood Insurance Areas in Idaho

Flood Insurance is not typically covered under standard Homeowners Insurance policies. This means that if your home is located in a flood prone region of Idaho you will be required to purchase separate flood insurance through FEMA’s National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP).

The Idaho Department of Water Resources manages the National Flood Insurance plan in Idaho.  They are tasked with reviewing Boise ordinances dealing with floodplain issues, helping communities adopt floodplain ordinances and qualifying for the national flood insurance program.  This is the first step in obtaining FEMA flood insurance.  If you’re buying a home in Idaho and want to find out more information on flood zone areas in Idaho, please reference the list of Idaho contacts below or visit the Idaho Department of Water Resourceswebsite for maps and more information.
